Love
Often spoken about, constantly sought after, frequently lost and little
understood, describes love. Is it truly this evasive, do we have unrealistic
expectations. In looking at the romantic stories we author and the extravagant
films we produce to tell the story it becomes clear. We tend to create an image
of an emotion that is omnipotent. Getting so much from something we understand
so little is almost mystical! Perhaps the books, soap operas, movies and media
have caused our expectations to exceed reality. We perhaps should take a step
back, examine what truly brings joy into our lives to rediscover this incredible
emotion.
Do you remember as a child the feeling, when you hugged your first pet and said
I love you? What about the time you skinned your knee and mom or dad fixed the
injury gave you a hug and comfort seemed at hand. Do you remember that friend
who needed your help and you were there. Recall the smile that glowed on that
friend’s face and the warm fulfilling feeling in your heart. This is LOVE.
Sometimes brief always simple. It is the act of caring and being cared for. It
comes without cost but is more rewarding than a gift of great magnitude.
Whether god plays a role in your life or not, the message is very clear, love
begins and ends with caring. There is nothing more meaningful or sustaining
than this in all the world. Share yourself with others and feel the results.
