LonelinessFreedom
Not all we think is glorious or fulfilling. Often, we are swept with feelings
we wish to hide, fail to acknowledge or tremble to admit. Why do we place such
value on positive and reject negative thoughts? Loneliness is like that.
Perhaps more so in that it itself has no acknowledgment. No one to hear, no one
to share, no to feel what your feeling. What person has never felt the despair
of this emotion. Who has never felt the dread of saying, “Why me”? It would
take a brave soul or a fool to say never to this question. Yet one must ponder
why with over five billion people on this planet one could ever truly be alone.
Is it the world, the people around us or is it within? As with all things, is
this emotion based on a journey that must begin with each of us? It is so easy
to point a finger, say I can’t, or it won’t happen. It’s much harder to accept
responsibility for our own destiny. To step out, to take a chance to risk
nothing that is not already missing is easy.
Searching and finding others is the real challenge. For in every person you
meet, no matter how similar or different from yourself there is a tiny piece of
you. Each of us whether from another country, a different walk of life or
another religion, we share something. Meeting that person, communicating,
sharing life’s experiences allows us not only to interact with them but also to
thwart this thing called loneliness. In every person regardless of the good or
evil they possess they have something in common with us. The search, the
sharing not only places us in contact with others but, helps us to find who we
really are and want to be. Step out, reach out, participate in life and find
the reward you seek. Nothing is achieved by inactivity. Everything is gained
through effort. Never be at peace with yourself until you are at peace with the
world!
